Linda's Coupon Notebook - Two Ways To Shop With Coupons

I've been wanting to share my "Notebook" for some time. Here are some photos of my coupon notebook. I purchased this regular binder at a back to school sales. (Otherwise this one is rather expensive.) I'm sure one could find this at a Thrift store or the like if you keep on the lookout for it.

The coupon pages are baseball card holders that I've only been able to find at Target (near the check out lanes). Again, look for stores that sell these at a good price or it may cost more than it's worth.

I get Smart Source and Red Plum booklets every week from the Sunday paper. And yes, I've gone dumpster hunting for discards although there are much better ways to get extra free Sunday coupons if you use your imagination. Nursing homes toss the inserts. Gas stations toss their papers at midnight. Even your Sunday carrier has extras if you want to get up early and discuss a win-win proposal.

Of the two ways to shop with coupons, this is my way...
Each week I cut out the coupons from Red Plum and Smart Source Sunday and store them in my notebook according ot the labels I've glued to the pages.
(See next pictures for my labels)
I keep this notebook in the car and if I find unexpected, unadvertised, sales, I'm prepared.
Others couponers don't cut out the coupons until they go shopping, and then they take coupons for what is advertised. It's less time consuming.

I've added a 'pencil holder' to the front for odds and ends.
I printed up some business cards with my website on it for women who ask me about couponing as I'm shopping.
(I never had a man ask me about couponing. I'll have to ask my sociology class about that. lol)

Take a few minutes each week to discard the expired.
I've sent mine to military bases as they can use expired coupons.
Google for military addresses for expired coupons.

I always take this with me because some of my best deals have been UNADVERTISED sales.
Combined with coupons, I often get items for FREE.

I also plan ahead for the sales of the week and make a list of good deals.
But, I often find sales I didn't expect, and with my COUPON NOTEBOOK
I'm ALWAYS prepared for GOOD DEALS AND FREE MEALS.

Coupons Are Good For...

As I was checking out at the grocery store today using a big supply of coupons, the man ahead of me was buying one can of pineapple juice.

"You could have gotten that for free," I thought in my head as he dished out a dollar and change.

Today was the first day in a several months that I actually collected coupons and made a list before I left on a tour of two grocery stores and Walgreens.

I'm happy to post the list of things I got on sale and with coupons. Not free, but a discount on each item. I saved about 75 percent today. I didn't get more than three of each item because most of the grocery stores have a limit of three now. (And, I only get one Sunday paper.)

I used coupons for Lysol cleaning supplies, Purina cat food, cheese, vitamins ($4 off), shampoo (Aussie), toothpaste and brushes (Crest) , dish soap, frozen veges (Steamers), Land-0-Lakes butter, Tide laundry soap, and one Christmas gift for you (Sandy). The BEST deal was Cheerios. Got a large box for $3. (Actually, got three boxes.) Oh, and I got jars of Claussen pickles for 99-cents each with a sale and my (expired) coupon. Also, shaving cream and razors. Don't need bath tissue or Kleenex, but could have got that too. I'm waiting for a cream cheese sale to use this week's coupon on that. Pineapple would have been free, but I forgot it.

So, don't give up. Keep on the lookout for coupons for things you use. It really does make you feel satisfied at the end of the day and want to share the fun with everyone.

Today's Sunday paper (July 31, 2011) has a nice article in the USA Weekend insert about couponing.

It's not an Extreme Couponing article, but offers some helpful information and excellent websites for understanding how to save money with coupons.

The Article titled, How You Can Become A Coupon Queen, shares very good shopping strategies for savings including:

Just sitting down with the Sunday newspaper and clipping offers your family will use.
The Sunday paper is still the biggest bang for your buck.
Memorize the prices of your commonly used products. Then you will know a sale.
Buy when these products are on sale and then use your coupon.
Don't ignore mass merchandisers such as Target and Walmart.
Try store brands, even though manufactures coupons won't work on them.
Use Loyalty Cards...such as Kohls, Kroger, and more. Ask if your store has one.
Use technology apps like CardStar and Key Ring to manage your store loyalty cards.

In my case, I've been out of work for a few months, so we've been living on our "pantry stash" for awhile. It has been a lifesaver. I recently returned to work as a Registered Nurse and will start looking for the best deals (on sale) and using multiple coupons (often purchased online) to stock up again.

I'm not sure I should even tell this story about how I got FREE paper towels, toilet paper, and tissues with Small Steps coupons that didn't match at all...

As I posted last week, I ordered Small Steps coupons from eBay when they came out in the Sunday paper. The coupons cost me 8-cents each. When they arrived, the conditions didn't match the ones that came out in the paper although, at first glance, they looked the same.

The on-line coupons indicated the bath tissue had to be 12-packs and paper towels 2-packs. Facial tissues weren't even listed on the coupon.

I decided to give them ALL a try at the check-out anyway. Bath tissue was four-packs. (They only come in four-packs!) Single rolls of paper towels instead of double. (They don't even come in double sets!) And several boxes of the Small Steps tissues that weren't listed on the coupon.

The cashier not only ran them through, but they didn't even 'ding' the register. She commented that it was almost like the TV program, Extreme Couponing.

Well, after the first batch went through without a hitch, I went back for more and returned to the same cashier. NONE OF THE COUPONS MATCHED WHAT I GOT EXCEPT IT WAS ALL SMALL STEPS BRAND!

Funny thing though, I got two packages of cat treats that DID match my coupons, but she wouldn't take them because she said it was the wrong 'flavor'. I had her take the cat treats back. You know, I'm a couponer after all. Just sayin...

The best news is that we starting moving into our new home tomorrow, and the free toiletries will go in first!

PS On My Small Steps Marcel Posting

In my last entry I mentioned that the Small Steps coupon was good for an 8-pack. I was wrong. The $1 coupon is GOOD for a 4-pack of TP that normally sells for $1.25 or $1 on sale - making it FREE.

With three coupons, I went to Albertson's yesterday and had absolutely no problem getting two packages (4-rolls each) of toilet paper and one box of 'Kleenex'. Because they weren't on sale, I paid 33-cents each. I can't wait for my 20 coupons to come in the mail. I'll slip in and out of Albertson's until I have a good stash once again.

I believe you can do that with paper towels too.

Small Steps Coupon for Free Bath Tissue

This is why I haven't paid for bath tissue or facial tissue since I started shopping with coupons.

Every few months, the Sunday paper comes out with Marcel Small Steps coupons worth $1 off paper towels, bath tissue, or napkins.

This makes it FREE when on sale or maybe 25-cents each if not on sale.
Today, I ordered 20 Marcel Small Steps from Ebay for $2 plus 65-cents. You can usually only order these when the coupons have been published in the Smart Source of Red Plum. (I can't remember which.) If you don't do eBay, you can order online from "Dede" or HERE but that website is out of Marcel coupons today.

So, you really don't have to buy the Sunday paper to get this great deal.

We only have one store in Denver that I know of that sells Small Steps, and that is Albertsons. If anyone knows of another store, please let me know.

Mummy Deals - Walgreen Freebies!

I'm suppose to be doing something else right now, but wanted to alert all couponers and those who want to save money, and those who like getting freebies that this Mummy Deals Blog (click here), is always up-to-date with the best deals around and weekly free stuff and Walgreens, CVS, grocery stores, and more. (Especially Walgreens for me!)

This week (Feb. 27 - Mar. 5, 2011) you can get a 'ton' of free items at Walgreens. Well, 'free' because you get a store coupon you can use on other things there. I often stock up on a selection of Hallmark cards using the coupons.

Email Me For Extra Coupons

Here in Denver I'm running into more people using coupons each week. I give some of them my blogger address, then wonder if it's helpful to them.

So, the story is...If there are certain coupons that you want, please email me and I'll mail them to you if I have them. bestmomlinda@yahoo.com is checked every day.

At work, I saw someone cutting out pamper coupons, and today I felt badly putting my extras in the "file' drawer. I sure don't need them.

The Sunday paper of February 27 has an excellent P&G insert that, if combined with Walgreens sales, can have some pretty awesome deals this week.

I've been watching for the Lindsay Black Olives at Walgreens for .99 cents a can. (Limit 3, but most stores don't care.) Today I got six cans with no problem - and I didn't pay anything for them after the store cash rewards coupons I got for the Gillette razors.

Normally the razors cost $9.99 which I would NEVER pay, but the store is offering $4 back, and I had the $4 coupon. I bought two, but discovered that there is a limit of 1 on this one, so you have to run each one in a single purchase (or you will only get one $4 store rewards coupon back). Then, I did a third purchase for the olives using the two $4 coupons.

I know it sounds complicated, and I don't do this too often for that very reason. It's easier to run over to King Sooper (Kroger) and get double coupons without any fuss!!!!

But, I do this at Walgreens every couple months when the black olives are on sale.

Don't forget to email me if you want selected coupons. If you are from work, I can bring them in, but I'm only there on the weekend. It's much more simple to mail them, and I don't mind the postage for a friend. :))

King Sooper Friend - Please Call or Email

I know I'm not posting on this coupon blog as often as I should, but I'm happy to report that I'm finally getting back into awesome coupon savings after our move from Ohio to Colorado. The biggest challenge is finding extra coupons (for free). In Ohio, my newspaper carrier left all her "extras" at my doorstep, and I was able to stock up on so many things and share with others.

Yesterday as I was shopping in King Soopers (Kroger in Ohio), a young mother stopped to comment on my notebook full of coupons. We enjoyed sharing information as this was her FIRST TIME to shop with coupons.

I'm so sorry, but I think her name was Anne? How terrible I am with names even though I repeat them several times in my mind and vow that I'm not going to forget it. But alas, I'm not sure now.

I was absolutely thrilled to find another serious couponer here in Colorado! I wish we had shared phone numbers (both our cell phones were almost dead - lol). But, I did give her my homemade business card for this blog, so I hope she will read this and contact me. I have so much more I can share with her - including extra coupons!

"Anne" asked me if we really could save using coupons. I hope she got lots of savings yesterday. (She checked out behind me taking my advice to seek out a happy, friendly, cashier.) She has really done her homework already!

"Yes, Dorothy, we're not in Kansas...but we can save a bundle with coupons!!!"

My Coupon Notebook

"Wow! That is beautiful!"

As I stood in the isle of King Soopers (Krogers in other parts of the country), I heard a women beside me commenting on something in my grocery cart. No, it wasn't my worn out purse. Or, the faded sweater tossed over the edge.

Ahhh, it was my blue 'coupon notebook' nestled in the front part of the grocery cart and open to the 'bread' section. (Pillsbury rolls were on sale, and with my coupons I was about to get a half dozen free!)

The notebook is a WalMart back-to-school special. The 'pages' are for baseball cards holders from Target. The tabs were designed to fit my personal shopping needs in alphabetical order. Batteries-Breads-Cleaning Supplies-Juice-Laundry-Meats-Paper Products-Pasta-Pet-Rice-Toothpaste-Vegs-and so on.

The woman went on to tell me she had just started a coupon class at her church, and she was quite excited to start using coupons on a regular basis in order to save money.

As I gave her several of my homemade business cards listing my coupon blog (this one), and my email address, she promised to give one to the coupon teacher at her church. I'm looking forward to hearing from them.

While professional coupon shoppers are quite likely to be discovered in most every isle of your favorite store, each one has their individual method of storing, shopping, and organizing. The 'notebook" is just my personal preference.

My friend, Buffy, keeps her coupons sorted in boxes at home and only carries what she plan to use as she shops. Others cut out their coupons just before shopping. Some carry a few in their purse. I prefer to store all my coupons in my coupon note book and take it with me as I shop. You never know when you're going to find a close-out on something. Or, you find an unadvertised deal on laundry detergent that offers enough free Tide to last a year with coupons added to the special price. Palmalive dish soap is another frequent freebie.

Each week as new coupons are posted online or after the Sunday paper coupons come in, I search for my favorite products and cut out any coupons. I'm able to get extras at my work on Sunday, so this has been very helpful. (I do save the coupons that I don't cut out for my notebook. Sometimes I mail coupons to my kids and coupon-saving sister, Sandy.)

If you can locate a newspaper carrier in your neighborhood, stop and ask them if they have a source for the Smart Source and Red Plum coupon booklets. For a little tip each week, they might drop off extras at your house. I happen to know that hundreds of these booklets are TOSSED OUT by newspaper carriers after they insert them into their Sunday papers.

In the evenings while hubby and I watch a few of our favorite TV programs, I organize the coupons into my coupon notebook.

Each week, I search the local grocery store weekly deals (including Walgreens and Target), to see where I want to use my coupons this week. Be forewarned, if it's a really good deal, the item will be 'off the shelf" by the day after! That's how I'm positive that there are far more serious coupon shoppers than we are aware of!

In my case, my coupon notebook includes sections for things I regularly use in my home. We live in a small apartment where space is limited, so getting 12 gallons of "free' milk is not cost effective for me. Getting 12 rolls of free tissue paper and storing them in the garage is my idea of great coupon usage. I have secret stashes of cereal (Honey-nut Cheerios for 97-cents a box is the highest I will pay), pasta, tuna, ziploc bags, popcorn, hot chocolate, bath cleaners, shampoo, pet food, and more.

I hope this helps those who are interested in using coupons. Maybe you can pick and choose how you will use your coupons. I can promise that you will never pay for toothpaste, bath tissue, dish soap, laundry detergent, or Kleenex again.

Coupon Hopping Once Again! October 18, 2010

We've been in Colorado (from Ohio) for going on three months now! How time flies! Today was the first day I actually took my big coupon book and went grocery shopping with a plan - and coupons!!!!

I was spoiled in Ohio because my newspaper carrier left extra coupons every Sunday. Here I have to buy the extra papers, and it's not something want to do. So, my coupons are only one or two at a time.

At Scoopers (called Kroger in Ohio), they have a 10/$10 sale this week. In order to make sure I got the minimum quantities, I put a smaller carrier in my cart and put those items in there. (You don't have to get 10 of each item, just a total of 10 of those that are in that sale.) That helped a lot for less confusion on how many of the 10/$10 I had in my cart, so I would get the free $5 at checkout AND get the reduced price for getting 10.

I tried to use my coupons also on those special cost items. I hear there is a much bigger and nicer "Kroger" close to where we live, so I'm going there next time.

At Target, I matched the store $1 coupon with a manufactures $1 coupon to get dark chocolate kisses for only 99-cents a bag. I like them frozen!

At Walgreens, I was very disappointed that they wouldn't take my $3 off Nieva body wash making it free. They said it was only for men's body wash. I could have gotten some for hubby for free, but he has a closet-full of body wash already! I did go ahead and get cans of black olives and jars of green olives for 99-cents each.

So, in the future I hope to give you more up-to-date coupon deals and free meals now that I'm getting back on track.

We should have three coupon booklets in our paper today. For my friend, Edith, please find in the Smart Source the nice PediaSure $2 coupon and the 50-cent Irish Spring off any one coupon.

There's 75-cents off Colgate that, if doubled, provides free toothpaste.

We also like the Brush's Grillin Beans for $1 off.
75-cent V8 coupons, and $1 Softsoap.

I may order extra Mentos' $1 off so I can send a little care package to my son in South Carolina for his math students.

This is just from the Smart Source alone. I haven't looked at the Red Plum or P&G as I got up late and have to leave for work in an hour or so.

Before You Call...

Before you call your newspaper to complain about no Red Plum, Smart Source or P&G this Sunday (September 5, 2010), please note there are none scheduled due to the Labor Day holiday...(And my birthday. lol)

I post this because I was reaching for the phone before it dawned on me that today is one of the few Sundays the paper does not carry my favorite coupons!

What a dork! Well, I'll take the time to organize the few I have collected since our move to Denver and try to match them with this week's sales. We pretty well lost all our "pantry" with the big move. Except for paper towels and toilet paper. What more does one need in life anyway?

Hope all are enjoying nice weather and taking advantage of some happy family time together. Or, sleeping in. Or, cleaning out the garage. Or, taking long walks. Or, catching up on housework. Or, washing the car. Or, going to a local festival. Or, a cool bike ride. Or, doing something special with the kids. Or, just hanging out and catching up.

Here in Denver, I finally started getting the Sunday newspaper but no Red Plum on either Sunday! Bummer. If anyone in the Denver area knows the deal on that, please let me know. Does the Red Plum get inserted on another day?

Update From Denver

Wow! What a difference a month makes! I'm having trouble even getting a Sunday paper's worth of coupons, much less the "extras" that I'm used to. This last Sunday, I bought two Sunday papers from a machine, and neither of them had the Smart Source or Red Plum.

I called the Denver newspaper office, and they said that coupons couldn't be guaranteed in the paper that you buy off the street. Only the home delivery. Seriously!!!! Take me back to my "coupon guaranteed" city in Ohio! I signed up for the 'home delivery' Sunday paper. They wanted me to pay for one year in advance, but I declined. Said I'd wait to see what coupons they really gave me.

I'm still trying to figure out where to get the weekly fliers for Kroger, ...err..., it's called King Soopers here, but the deals are the same. We got the fliers in today's mail, but the ads started yesterday, and I like to be a little more ahead of the game.

We live right next to a Super Target, but I never liked them in Columbus. They were too rude and picky about coupons. But, it looks like I need to forgive and forget past prejudices. ha ha

In the meantime, the pantry here is full. The garage is packed. Closets are stuffed, and I even have a stash under the bed. There's time to get my act together and move forward with continued Good Deals and Free Meals!!!!

Lost My Coupon Fairy

For every thing there is a season...

...And it appears my golden season of free coupons has ended.

I wish my Coupon Fairies (a sweet couple), the very best as they take up different duties in the newspaper world.

They have made changes at the same time that we are making our move to Denver, so it was only a matter of time before one of us wasn't up to bat anyway.

Today, I only got one newspaper and one set of Red Plum and Smart Source. I felt lost without all those papers, and sorting and sharing!!!!

If I come across any real good deals this week, I'll let you know, but strangely, the grocery store sale bags didn't get delivered up at the mailboxes either. So I'm in the dark all the way around. I haven't seen anything from Buffy in a while either. She's been getting ready for a big marathon (running), so wish her well with that.

It's 20 days until we plan to pull out with the Penske truck for Denver. (Friday, July 30). It looks like we may have more boxes already packed than we will have left to pack!!!! Hubby and I have been working hard to stay organized and on a strict time table.

Woo Hoo!!! Sometimes it's more like Boo Hoo!!!

Just in case you're on the computer instead of watching the fireworks - both in the sky and around the house with everybody HOME and in your SPACE - I thought I'd drop a line to let you know I'm alive and well.

I believe the only coupons in the Sunday paper this weekend will be the P&G, but it is a favorite for some of us, so we will hope to enjoy several copies.

My computer and my iPhone have been mysteriously losing my favorite things in the last few days. In My Favorite section of my computer, the link for all my coupons blogs has completely disappeared!!!!

I had to click on my own blog to find out what's going on in the local grocery stores.

Today, I tried a simple download of my photos from my iPhone and completely LOST every single program in my phone. I couldn't even make or receive calls. The simple message indicated in Spanish how to call for emergency - the word for emergency was in Spanish, but I understood it. That dropped my heart right down to the basement!!!

But, techno tinker that I am, I got on Google and searched for answers and programs that my iPhone needed to come alive again (iTunes 9.2), and after MANY hours at the computer, WE are up and running fine as a fiddle once again.

For those who understand these things and want slightly additional information, I think that Outlook on my computer does not save addresses, so when my iPhone does a sync, it can't reload numbers back into my phone like it's suppose to.

Many others have encountered this same problem, and are not very kind to Apple when complaining about it on the web!!!! Of course, losing 400 contacts, as some have done, is a serious injustice!

Using a suggestion I found on Google, I created an contact list on my Yahoo account and then 'instructed' my iPhone to get that information from my Yahoo account instead of Outlook.

The other problem started when I accidentally stopped my computer from downloading (or is it uploading?) (or is it upgrading) my iTunes, so when the iPhone tried to complete the sync, it had nothing to work with. (OK. I thought it was stuck and wasn't loading.)

After fixing all that, (I like to call it a 'work-around"), I gritted my teeth, plugged my iPhone into the computer and asked it to sync again. Whew. It worked. There are some little changes such as now I can use ZOOM when I take a picture on my phone. I lost my wallpaper, but simply changed it to a picture of the Rocky Mountains that I took while I was in Denver.

Back to coupons, I believe that even the managers have gone to the lake or taken a summer vacation because I haven't found many good deals around town this week. (Except for Finish at Drug Mart).

No Expired Coupons at Meijers!

I've complained several times because Meijer's is so picky about expired coupons. The two other grocery stores in town never even check and don't really care!

Today I found out why Meijer's always catches an expired coupon.
IT COMES UP ON THE CASHIER'S REGISTER!

Yep, I was doing the self check-out and was hoping a Cheerios coupon that expired on the 15th would go through. There it was. The "EXPIRED COUPON" message came up on the computer.

So, here it is for one and all. Take it to Kroger or Giant Eagle where they are happy to accept all your coupons.

I am reminded of the famous verse inscribed on the Statue of Liberty when I think of all the hundreds of coupons in my coupon notebook. Laugh if you wish. I'm smiling!

The Sunday paper for May 9, 2010, will only have one Smart Source. No Red Plum or P&G. This is the regular schedule, so don't worry. Next week will have both again.

Today's Smart Source and Red Plum held lots of coupons, but I only found one good sale to match them this weekend. I will save several for a time when I find good sales to match my coupons.

It looks like Kroger may have some good sales starting on Monday. Everyone has different needs and eating habits, so I usually avoid posting specific deals unless it's really FREE, because this posting goes all over the United States.

I have a "new" notebook for my coupons that I'm very happy about. (Google picture posted). It's a big, blue, zip-up style that I pulled out of the back of my closet. (Actually, hubby's closet.) The nice flannel bag that held my smaller notebook got full of holes.

I like this one better. It's easier to manage when I put it in the cart. At checkout, I can just zip it up instead of trying to poke it back into the bag. I always remember one more coupon I want as I'm checking out, and I was always pulling it back out of the bag again. I carry about 400 different kinds of coupons (and many extras of each one) when I shop!

There are 75-cent coupons in today's paper (SS 4/18) for Dole Fruit Crisps. These look like they would be excellent for lunches. They can be enjoyed hot or cold. Kroger had these on sale today for 2/$4, so with the 75-cent doubled to $1.50, they only cost 50-cents. There are two containers in each set making them only 25-cents a serving!

For pet-lovers, there's a $2 coupon for ANY size Purina ONE dry cat food. I already have tons of Purina cat food, but have cut these out in case anyone would like some.

As I was changing coupon bags, I pulled out hundreds of extra coupons that I won't use even though some of it will be free. My cupboards runnith over!!!! My closet is filled to the brim. The storage/washroom is packed to the gills!!! The freezer is stuffed!!! Many of these coupons expired on March 31, so I'm sending them to a military base in Turkey. I sent some a few weeks ago and got a nice thank-you note by email.

Come to think of it, I did hurry over to Meijer's today for the sale on Pepperidge Farm crackers and cookies even though I didn't have a coupon for them. They are my 'breakfast food'. (Sorry, all you Oatmeal, eggs and toast folks.) They are on sale this week 3/$5 or $1.66 each. They usually cost $3.99 a bag. I should go back and get a bunch for youngest son's Algebra class!!!!

I'm exhausted tonight, and still want to post on the Linda's Notebook blog, so will close this blog and open another.

Update on the DelMonte Fruit Cups I Just Posted

Having just posted that complicated process for getting FREE DelMonte fruit cups, (posting just below this one), now I discover that the Meijer mealbox isn't listing the Meijer 50-cent coupon anymore!

But, they ARE posting a coupon for PAM which is on sale and has a coupon in today's paper. (SS or RP 4/11) With the 30-cent coupon doubled AND the Meijer coupon, you should be able to get a can of PAM for $1.20.

I give up. Hubby is patiently waiting for supper. What good is all that free food if you don't feed it to the family?

FREE DelMonte Fruit Cups at Meijer April 11-17, 2010

It takes a little work and monitoring the cashier, but the DelMonte Fruit cups are $1.99 on sale this week at Meijer. The DelMonte coupon in today's paper for 75-cents (RP 4/11) will double to $1.50 AND Meijermealbox.com has a stackable coupon for 50-cents.

At our Meijer, they will only double two of the same coupons at a transaction, so if you get more than two, make it another transaction.

Also, today I noticed it didn't double the 75-cent coupon at first, but I brought it to the attention of the cashier to fix it.

Then, it didn't want to accept the Meijer 50-cent coupon as it should have. The cashier also had to apply that.

It I hadn't said something, she would have never noticed - or even cared. She seemed puzzled by coupons at all.

I shoulda gone with the older non-smiling cashier!!!

Don't forget you can actually order those 75-cent off coupons at several coupon sites including eBay and http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com or HERE for that website. I've ordered from couponsthingsbydede several times. Great, FAST, service. A fraction of what you will pay for the product.

Sunday Deal DelMonte Coupon April 11, 2010

First, if anyone knows of 75-cent Colgate coupon dates/insert, please let me know. GE has it on sale, but I can't find those coupons. Some mentioned in their blogs that it's been a long time since we had 75-cent off, but I thought we had some not too long ago. Thanks!

The best coupon deal that I found in today's paper is the DelMonte cans of fruit coupon for 40-cents off. Today is the last day of triple coupons at Kroger, but DelMonte fruit isn't on sale. The price is $1.38 a can, but even so, you can pick up a can of peaches, pears or fruit cocktail for 18-cents with the coupon! It says sugar-free, but the coupon will take with any. I already tried, and it worked.

Does anyone know of a better deal on DelMonte fruit before I use all my coupons at Kroger?

Triple Coupons Going On At Columbus Kroger's Now

Through Sunday, April 11, 2010, Kroger stores here in Columbus, Ohio, will triple coupons up to 50-cents.

According to my coupon spies, there are no exceptional FREE deals to be found so far. But, the word is that you can get some 'great deals" with those 25-cent, 35-cent, and 50-cent coupons.

I'm under the weather with a miserable spring cold, so haven't ventured out since I got home from work.

For any of you die-hard plant-lovers in the area, a freeze warning is posting for some outlying areas, so bring out the sheets and cover up the tender plants. I've brought my Morning Glory seedlings into the house for the weekend.

My FREE Day At K-Mart and How I Did It.

It wasn't 8 a.m., as I promised everyone here on the blog, but a little after 9 a.m. that I arrived at K-Mart this morning to check out the truth of the double coupons up to $2.

I believe I might have been the very first customer! The only lane open was the customer service desk where the serious-sounding manager informed me that, yes, coupons were being doubled up to $2..

"You can only use five coupons once per day", she announced loud enough for the entire store to hear.

I assured her that I completely understood the rules as I trotted off to see what was in the bath and body area. (The first items to sell out on double coupon day.)

After about an hour of consultation between me and my five best coupons, I headed to the cashier with one bag of Ziploc steamers, one Johnson & Johnson roll of tape, one J&J first aide kit, two sets of Rubbermaid food containers (for one coupon), and one bottle of ALL Laundry detergent - all FREE with my coupons!

At the check-out, which had two lanes open and no customers, I selected a young lady whom I thought should be fair and know the rules.

To make a long story short, (a very long story), she didn't even know that K-Mart was having double coupons, and she didn't know how to enter ANY coupons into the computer. At least she didn't know how to make any of them double!

I believe that every employee in the store came over to 'assist' her except the manager who had told me all the rules!!! I calmly but firmly explained to all present how we used coupons, and how the store should accept them.

At one point, I asked to her cancel my order, and said that I would "walk around the store" until they could make their computers double my coupons. She was happy to agree.

After she (they) finally got my order to go through with only 41-cents owned on tax, I decided to 'test the rules' they didn't seem to know anything about (except, of course, for the manager).

After putting my little bag of five items that had taken me two hours to purchase out to the car, I returned to the store and made the second purchase of five 'free' items with the second cashier, who had forgotten everything I had taught her about using coupons!

By now, I knew how to tell her to enter my Rewards Card number and how to select the right item on her computer screen. I scanned each one to make sure it 'worked"!!!!

By George! I was on a roll!!!! I had decided if they couldn't enforce their own rules, I was going to ignore the rules until someone told me to stop!

I went back to New Albany and got my coupon friend who had been anxious to try her new coupon skills with me. Together we went back and got our five free items and used my Rewards Card NINE times!!!!!

During that time, we "won" two free items which we had to redeem at the Customer Service desk. By now, it was late afternoon and the morning manager going off duty. She was giving instructions to the afternoon shift.

"Now remember, customers have to use their Rewards Card and can only use five coupons in one day. Those Reward Cards will make sure they only go through line once a day with coupons."

I waited until she said goodbye to everyone, then walked up to the desk to claim my 2 oz of Purell that I had won.

After that, my friend and I went back through line two more times.

I would have been smarter to do like a couple I saw in the line next to me. They had a half a cart full of Gillette body wash, Shampoos, razors and more. I leaned over and asked her if she knew they had a five-limit rule.

The lady said they had gone online and printed out dozens of Rewards Cards and planned to use one for each set of five items at a time. She asked me if I thought it would work.

"Not without a hassle, but it might work," I answered.

Looking back when I was done, I saw they were letting her to just that. They were ringing up five items at a time - and judging from the long line of irate customers - I suspect it was going to take a very long time.

Even though it was getting late, I had one more stop. At Meijers I got hubby's favorite cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios, for about $1 a box, and I got Warm Delights for FREE.

At the "Do It Yourself" check-out lane, I ran the Warm Delights two at a time because Meijer will only double two alike coupons in one transaction.

Oh, but you should have seen my husband's face when I got home.

He handled each item like it was gold.

"You mean to tell me you got all this for free?", he asked incredulously, as he eyed the bags of grocery and personal items on the table.

He was ready to get in the car and go back for more.

"Not today", I said with a yawn.

My feet hurt!

Sorry, PS to Double Coupons at K-Mart

If I didn't enjoy getting up early on my day off, I might completely skip this K-Mart coupon special going on April 4-10, 2010.

Now I find out you must have a Shopyourway rewards card to qualify for the double coupons. It only took me a minute to fill out my personal information and print out a temp card HERE, but I'll bet they let the person ahead of me go through without the card and with 20 coupons when the limit is five coupons. Then, they set the limit on me if I happen to have two coupons stuck together! I've seen that happen more than once, and it is quite frustrating.

They also jack up the prices on many items AND don't stock items that are most the popular money-savers like Pampers, and personal items. So watch out for that.

Having given you that heads-up, don't give up! Just be alert and plan ahead for what you want with those special double reward coupons.

K-Mart Double Coupons to $2 April 4-10, 2010

Lots of FREE things at K-Mart in the coming week make it worth picking up a Sunday paper with coupons. There's also the once-a-month P&G insert in there too.

For a list of cities participating, click here .

It looks like Sandy is in luck (in Tampa), but Portland is not on the list. (Maybe you guys don't have a K-Mart in Portland?) Columbia, SC, is on the list, Philip.

K-Mart will double coupons up to $2, so if you have a $1 coupon, it's worth $2.
Likewise, 50-cent coupons are worth $1 and so forth.
If you happen to have a $2 coupon, it's worth $4, I don't know of many of those except for the razors maybe. They also say there's a limit of five coupons per day, but who's looking and who's counting except at your specific checkout.

This is where non-coupon friends and husbands come in handy!

First of all, I want to apologize for not letting everyone know about Kroger triple coupons this last weekend. I didn't find out until after it started this time. Not keeping up like I should, huh? But, Kroger does run this every few weeks, so keep saving those 50-cent coupons! It usually only triples up to 50-cents. You know the Central Ohio Kroger and Giant Eagle always doubles up to 99-cents! Even those coupons that say DO NOT DOUBLE. Ha ha. That's a joke.

I've started a new job as a trainer for the computer program Epic (see my blog Linda's Notebook), that is taking a lot of time right now, but I'll try to do better here on the coupon blog to keep you posted on the good deals and free meals!

I've had a sneak peek at the coupons for tomorrow, and can't wait for the Sunday coupons this week!

For me, I'm collecting all the 55-cent coupons for the dark chocolate Reese candy bars for at least two of my boys who love them. (John and Philip). Hey, Philip, there will be another box of chocolates for you and your Algebra classes soon!

I also see coupons for pasta sauce, Land O Lakes butter (makes that 20 cents a container), Hidden Valley Farmhouse Originals ($2 off, so that should be free), Cottonelle TP (50 cents making that free when it's on sale), Welch's Juice (75 cents off), Heinz Steak Sauce ($2 off making that free when on sale - I have several family members I give that to), and Suave body wash that most of my friends and family already have so much of. ha ha

Hey, I'm just discovering this brand new information on a blog I follow. It says Giant Eagle will run a rare coupon special March 4-10. According to the blog, a $1 coupon is worth $2. No More Sunday Paper - Free Coupons!

Very few hits on this blog means I need to get busy and post some good stuff!!!!

This weekend my coupon fairy left me DOUBLE coupon inserts, so I am one very happy coupon princess!!!! Thank-you, coupon fairies. (Mr. & Mrs.)

A sudden inspirational thought dawned on me this morning....You don't need to buy the Sunday paper to get good deals, free meals, and lots of coupons!

I'm going to post a link to the three coupon websites who place inserts into the Sunday paper. You can click on these websites and find the listed coupons you would like to use, and then email me for the coupons. If you want a larger amount of coupons for a particular product, I can lead you to a website where you can purchase them for almost nothing.

Not all sections of the country get the same coupons every week, but we can work around that.

This is for those who don't care to stock up, but want specific coupons to use next time they go shopping.

I'm delighted to say that my friend who went 'shopping' with me to learn the 'secrets' of saving with coupons and stocking up on extras, had a very successful day and is now teaching one of her friends. We're also taking advantage of Kroger triple coupons through today.

I got the coupons I ordered from eBay or HERE to get about 30 packages of Trident Layer Gum for FREE. It's free with the 75 cent coupon doubled at Kroger, Giant Eagle or Meijer. (It does cost about 5-cents a coupon plus a little postage to order extras online, but well worth it!) I don't chew gum very often as I have a partial that gets in the way, but I'll have something sweet to share with others!!!! This layered gum is NEW and the flavor lasts a long time.

I sent several packages of gum to youngest son so he can share them with his students who show a good attitude and try hard in Algebra! He says they will looovvve the gum! Good Deals in Columbus with Triple Coupons at Kroger

Buffy sent out a list of good deals she found today at Kroger (triple coupons up to 50 cents through Sunday), and some at Meijers. Don't forget to check out the Meijer website for their coupons you can use in combination with manufacturer's coupons. Also, I might have extra coupons. Please send me an e-mail if you are looking for certain coupons.

Before I post Buffy's list, I want to tell you what a wonderful time I had today showing one of my friends how to shop with coupons at Kroger!!! She saved lots of money, and I spent only $2.

Here's a SECRET!!!! Sunday's paper will only have the Red Plum Insert. (My printed list says NO COUPONS), but it will have a Red Plum AND a coupon for Angel Soft TP, that you can use for FREE TP at Kroger. Here's the SECRET (small letters/come close).

The coupon says 6-roll, but the store has been accepting the 4-roll package on sale for 10/$10 without problems.

Here's Buffy's list:

KROGER (tripling coupons through Sunday)
1. SunnyD $1- $.25 (2/7 SS)= $.25 after tripled.
2. Chef Boyardee small microwaveable pastas $1- $.40/1 (1/10 SS- coupons says on the larger size but I used these this morning and no beeping or problems at all).

Kroger Triple Coupons In The Air

Besides lots of snow flying around here in Central Ohio, there are whispers of triple coupons coming our way.

Several blogs are mentioning Kroger triple coupons coming to Ohio. I called my local Kroger tonight to ask if they had just had one that I might have missed this weekend, or if they knew of any scheduled Kroger triple coupon events here in Columbus.

The young man who checked for me said they didn't have one last weekend, and he didn't see any information about any upcoming events.

This only means that we need to keep our ear to the ground. I'll post any information that I get, but it has been awhile since we had triples in our area.

One blog said that Mansfield, Ohio, will have triple coupons up to 50 cents on February 12-14. Sometimes we don't know until we see the sign on the door.

Watch those signs and blow the whistle for us if you find one!

RedPlum Insert 2/7/10...

We don't have a dog anymore, but I always got FREE Chef Michael's Purina Dry Dinners with this $2 off coupon. They make a small bag that costs about $2 and usually hangs on a clip in the dog food isle. There are also lots of other Purina coupons this week.

Coffee-Mate will be FREE sometime with this 50 cent coupon when it's doubled and on sale.

A box of Quaker Instant Oatmeal can cost about 88 cents with this $1-off coupon when it's on sale at Kroger for $1.88 (or less).

Millstone Coffee has a $2-off coupon for those who use that coffee. (I don't drink coffee.)
(Sorry, JoAnn, I didn't find any Maxwell House Coffee coupons you requested.)

There's the famous $2-off coupon for ALL Laundry soap again. It says 50-oz size but everybody around here takes it for any size. I got mine for 50 cents a bottle (32 loads) last month when Giant Eagle put them in a cart at a discount for $2.50. (They were all gone before I left the store!) (And, I didn't take them all.)

Crest toothpaste will be FREE again with the 75 cents off coupon when it's on sale at Kroger and sometimes Giant Eagle. (Hey Philip, you could give away toothpaste if you run out of cookies.)

P&G Coupon Booklet 2/7/10

One-Day Pass to Sam's Club coupon. Good until February 21. I have many coupons!

$2 off on Venus razors are also on sale this week at Walgreens. Combine the two for a great deal.

$5 Clairol Haircolor Perfect 10 is good to hold for that to be on sale someplace. It usually costs about $12 a box.

$4-off Gillette Fusion Razor and $2-off Gillette body wash.

$1.50-off on Pampers. I don't use these at all, but if you do, please ask for my coupons.

Crest coupons in this booklet will get more free Crest toothpaste. (No wonder all my friends and family say, "Linda/Mom, We don't need any more toothpaste!")

Smart Source 2/7/2010

50 cents off Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner doubled at Meijers sometimes make this almost free. Those sales and the coupons sometimes combine with Meijer coupons that can be STACKED with these manufactures' coupons. THEN it's free.

NutriPal has a $3 off on one 4-pack. Don't know what this is, but suspect someone has kids that drink this.

Oh yeah, Birds Eye Steamfresh and Freshlike Vege's will be FREE with these 50 cent coupons doubled at our grocery stores. In fact, Giant Eagle has them on sale this week for $1 each making them FREE. My freezer is too full, so I'll share.

Archway cookies have a $1-off coupon, and when they are on sale for $2, we get Jim's favorite cookie snack treat for only $1. I won't share too many (if any) of these, but just know it's a great deal for those Archway consumers.

There are several Campbell's Soup coupons. Always goooood.

Theraflu $2-off. I don't need these, but can be good for someone.

Hershey's Bliss $1-off and a decent sale will make these coupons useful. Especially near Valentine's Day!

25 cents off on Sunny D will be great (but not the best coupon) if on sale for $1 each. I usually wait for the 50 cent coupon, and get it free.

$1-off on Schick Disposable Razor is also on sale this week at Walgreens and can be combined.

"G" Booklet 2/7/2010

It's a small booklet and the things I liked were the Pillsbury, Betty Crocker Brownie Mix and $1/3 General Mills coupon. I'm always looking for the best deal on Honey Nut Cheerios!.

Lots of Coupons Sunday, January 3, 2010

Hey, the title above is the first time I've written 2010 in 2010. WooHoo!!!!

It's official, the new Blogger does not have a working spell checker. And, when I copy and paste from a Word document, it puts everything triple spaced. So, bear with me as I try my best to spell correctly!

Okay, this time I have the goods to prove it! There are five coupon inserts for the upcoming Sunday paper. (January 3, 2010.) I already have mine, thanks to my Very Special Coupon Fairy. As I've looked through, there seems to be a coupon for everyone! My suggestion is to get one Sunday paper (99 cents at the Drug Mart where I live), and email me if you want extras of any specific coupon. It's first-come-first-served, of course.

I love the big, brown, paper bag that Office Max inserted into the bundle for this Sunday's paper. I've used up all the bags from the last time they did this.

There's lots of Listerine and toothpaste coupons for any age. Colgate should be free when on sale using the doubled 75-cent coupon. $1 off on Johnson's body care products. A 55-cent coupon for ONE package of Hefty Waste Bags. (That got me about 10 FREE boxes last summer when Kroger put them on sale 10/$10) $1 off two Suave Shampoo and Conditioner makes them about 30 cents each when they are on sale. A $2 off coupon for All Laundry soap (when used with the small bottle), makes that one almost free when on sale.

Barilla Plus pasta is better for us because of the added fiber, and the $1 off coupon when you buy two packages, makes them 50 cents a box when those are on sale for 10/$10. (You don't have to buy 10 for the sale price.)

For my chiropractor family, (Ohio Chiropractic) in New Albany, Ohio, the $1 off coupon on DiGiorno Pizza should be appreciated by Dr. Greg. They use mostly home grown, natural, products, but I think DeGiorno Pizzza is a little treat they enjoy once in a while. I'm sure that Dr. Heather adds her own special, natural, flavorful touches!

The coupon I've been waiting for the longest is the FINISH Quantum Powerball dishwashing soaps. Check out the weekly sale at Walgreens and I think you can get it free with the in-store rebate. For me, I watch for the Meijer sale, and get it almost free.

A funny story is that last summer I got enough (almost) free coupons to give away about 25 of those boxes of FINISH Dishwasher detergents through Pantry 309, then one night, I reached for my own, and I was completely out. I had to go buy it at full price! So, nobody's perfect!

You can get almost free Small Steps facial tissue, paper towels and bath tissue with the $1.50 off coupon. There's Beech-Nut baby food coupons, Cottage Cheese, Campbell's Soup, V8 Juice, and so much more.

Okay, I think I've made my point. LOL

Today is the first day of 2010, and I have New Year's Resolutions to make and places to go! I'm going to write down some GOALS for the New Year too, and post them by my computer. Please don't expect to see a tiny, little, skinny, Linda Meikle, walking down the street a year from now. But, if I'm walking down the street (or around the block), that might be in my future.

I love my friends!!! One of them sent this tip by e-mail that I'm sharing with all. Hopefully, it will help someone with shopping decisions. Here's the tip:

(I) learned over the weekend that member's mark (sam's club) detergent is made by Tide. also that the Kroger Value brand chicken is Tyson chicken - Kroger buys it, they package it for them, and deliver it on the Tyson truck with the other Tyson chicken. AND ... Ross/Abbott Labs who make Similac also make all of Meijer's baby formula. Good money saving info to know.

My sister alerted me, and when I opened our Sunday paper today, I saw a nice, big, P&G insert!!!!

It was my loss too as I cancelled the extra papers today. So sorry, folks. I do have the one that came with our Sunday paper, and if you really want more, I'm sure the local gas station may have extras they will give you at a nice discount this late in the day. (Hoping you see this on Sunday.)

My sister says we have better deals all the time in Ohio than she gets in Florida anytime.

If you've been reading my dustyangels blog, you will know that we have one big thankfulness that my brother-in-law survived 'the big one', a heart attack last Tuesday, December 22. He's home now. He says he feels better than he has in months, and considers himself a very lucky man. Gives appreciation to his wife (my sister) for calling 9-1-1 and getting him to the hospital in time!

No coupons, no money, and no snow. Someone should be happy, but I'm not sure who. lol

Just to remind those who might be looking for them, there will no no coupon inserts in Sunday's paper.

They say we'll get some snow on Sunday - right when everybody is headed home. Hopefully, it won't be too cold and slippery.

On January 3, there should be FOUR coupon inserts in the newspaper for us. One Smart Source, two Red Plum and one General Mills.

I'll post whatever good grocery sales I find in the grocery ads within a few hours. (Those ads are in the car, and it's COLD outside.)

New Deals for a New Week

Hi to my Sunday morning coupon class,

Here in Columbus, most of us couponers like to get our groceries at Kroger, Giant Eagle, and Meijers. (My sister in Tampa, Florida, shops at Publix.) At Kroger, I especially love to find a bright orange and red Manager's Special sticker on my favorite items! That's why I take time to cut out the coupons of my most-used items, and always carry them with me. You never know when you'll find those Manager's Specials. Some couponers do, and some don't. Whatever works for you is just fine.

If you are into taking more time, you can get a lot of free things at CVS and Walgreens too. Maybe when I'm out of school, I can devote more time to that area of using store incentives along with manf. coupons. In the meantime, I depend on my fellow couponers to alert me to 'unbeatable' deals there. Like, buy something for $3.99 and get a store coupon for $3.99 back!

Target and Meijer have their own coupons (online and in-store) that you can stack (use) with manufactures coupons, (DOUBLE-COUPON VALUE) but that also takes more time than I have right now, although I do try to check the online Meijer coupons to see if there are any items that I use a lot that make it worth the time and trouble. Last week would have been a great deal on Campbell's soup, but I have plenty, and I never got over there for the "stackable coupon" sale.

I do not find the Columbus Target store (near Easton) to be a friendly place for couponers. If it goes over by one penny, they won't let you use your coupon. They might have great deals, but I'll take friendly service with a smile over Target anytime.

One more important piece of information. Our local grocery stores are not on the same "sale week' schedules! Kroger starts new weekly sales on Monday. Giant Eagle starts on Thursday. Meijer starts on Sunday! So, when I post Buffy's 'best deals of the week", you need to remember which day those expire. I think I will try to post the actual date these sales are in effect for each store, to save any frustration for you.

I know on my 'sister' websites where I often go for local deals, if they don't post the posting date, I'm confused and sometimes even off by a week! I'll go to Kroger for the great sale on cereal only to find that sale went off the day before!

Right now, new weekly grocery sales are starting at Meijer today. According to the weekly grocery flyer NOT in the Sunday paper, but in those plastic bags hanging on your mailbox, Meijer has a few really great deals I want to take advantage of. Cheese is one of them. I'm sure Buffy will send her weekly expose' soon, and I'll pass that on.

Kroger sales for the week start Monday (tomorrow). And, I have through next Wednesday (December 23) to get those free Mentos at Giant Eagle (with the coupons I've collected).

As my husband likes to say, "If you can't keep up, take notes."

I should have read my own schedule hanging next to the computer, but I was so sure that this wasn't December 20, and we WOULD get coupon inserts this weekend, that I collected a half dozen 'empty' ad bags from my secret collection place yesterday, AND jumped up early this morning to retrieve the Sunday paper(s)!

Boo Hoo-Hoo-Hoo. Father Time has crept up on me and ran on ahead!

Ha ha ha. It's already Ho Ho Ho time!

Well, for those who are still reading this, there is one $5 coupon in the USA Weekend that goes toward selected Hasbro games such as Monopoly, Clue, Sorry Sliders, and Pictureka. It's good until January 31, 2010. If anyone is interested. I have a few extra. Please e-mail me if you would like some of those.

I just checked, and I have at least five $2 Whitman's coupons to combine with the $4.99 sale at Drug Mart (making the sale price only $2.99). I also have many extra $1 off coupons for the Russell Stover Private Reserve boxed chocolates. They cost a little more, so I didn't get any. These are still excellent buys!

Also, note the $2 coupons off on All detergent. Sometimes they are on sale for $2.99 at Kroger. I've given out some coupons, but still have a couple extra if someone wants them, please ask. (The classmate who requested these have alredy been sent back for you.) In the past, I've purchased the detergent when it was on sale and given it away for free. But now I'm trying to teach YOU how to fish. (Smile)

Busy Weekend at Pantry 309

I came home with five bags of Kroger groceries that cost me 27 cents today! That doesn't count the other great deals I got on the Russell Stover and Whitman chocolates, free Mentos, free frozen veges, and almost free Del Monte fruit. Strangely, I got free paper towels with a coupon that wasn't the right one, but the cashier took it without question, and Pantry 309 got a half dozen rolls of Brawny paper towels to share!

On the other hand, all this comparing and coupon sorting has taken most of the entire weekend!

I checked, and the Tony's Pizza was free today at Kroger with this Sunday's coupon. I got several for Pantry 309, but already have someone on her way to pick up the pizza. Lots of kids and free pizza make for a wonderful easy supper tonight.

Also, have given away some frozen veges (peas, corn, and rice) that I picked up free with coupons at Giant Eagle last night.

In addition to working on Pantry 309, I've almost completed a major paper for school for Concepts. It's already 17-pages on the subject of Healthcare Reform! I had it ready to turn in, but the instructor decided to ask us to use the most recent version of APA style, so I had to make some changes. (Thanks, Miss Denise, for your help on the new version.)

So, it's been a busy weekend! I'd love to stay home to wrap Christmas presents tomorrow and get them off in the mail. My little sister and my two sons will be missing their gifts if I don't get those packages in the mail soon!

Russell Stover and Whitman Chocolates a STEAL at Drug Mart

Did you ever want to give a nice, sweet, box of chocolates at Christmas time, but found them to be cost prohibitive? For instance, the Sunday paper (12-13-09) has Russell Stover "on sale" at Walgreens for $10 a box. NOT!!!

Sit up and take notice folks! Drug Mart in Columbus, Ohio, has Russell Stover and Whitman's on sale this week for $3.99/$4.99 AND there's a $1/$2-off coupon in this Sunday's paper. That makes them only $2.99 a box.

That's not all!!! They are already gift wrapped. Tonight (Saturday night), Drug Mart was already running the sale price. I started out buying a couple boxes, but went back for more when hubby and I remembered all the folks we have trouble getting something nice for without spending too much money. The young man checking me out said there was no limit and to "help myself", so I went ahead and used all the coupons I planned to use, and didn't have to make several trips trying to look inconspicuous. ha ha

Funny thing, though. The Whitman's coupon was on the back of the Tony's pizza coupon, so I missed that at first and bought all Russell Stover. (Hubby says that's better chocolate anyway.) Now I have some extra coupons for Whitman's if anybody is interested. Just e-mail me at pantry309@yahoo.com or bestnurse@usa.com .

To clarify, the Whitman's is $4.99 at Drug Mart, but the coupon is for $2 off. The Russell Stover is $3.99 and the coupon is for $1 off. That makes either of them $2.99 after the coupon.

Speaking of Tony's pizza. If Kroger still has them on sale for $1 each (small size), they would be FREE with the 50-cent coupon also in this Sunday's paper. I haven't had time to double check, but this Sunday might be the last day of the Kroger sale.

Funny hubby. He is so happy at the thought of all this dark chocolate! I promised to save him an extra box for Santa to slip under the tree.

There were lots of coupons in this Sunday's paper that I could use. (My Coupon Fairy happened to stop by a day early, but don't tell anyone.)

There were extra coupons in my 'secret place" today also. (Those are usually gone within hours of being delivered.) I attribute that to so many people out Christmas shopping this weekend, that they aren't taking time for coupons. (It does take a lot of time.)

Today's Sunday paper had Smart Source and Red Plum inserts, but I didn't see any really good coupons that I use. That's not to say I wasn't happy to get those inserts because sometimes a really great deal comes along that I wasn't expecting, and I'm ready with my coupons!!!!

This week, I'm cutting out Jim's favorite margarine coupon, and Colgate toothpaste for 75 cents that doubles for free toothpaste every few weeks around here.

Mostly, I'm staying pretty busy finishing up the last few weeks of school while combining Christmas, Jim's birthday, two 'grandchildren' birthdays, and the birthday of my oldest son. All this with only a few spare pennies in my pocket.

I've applied to work (as an LPN) over the school break in order to make ends meet until I can get a good RN job within about three months! In order to do that, I have to update my resume and find the job I want to apply for! At this point, I'm open to any offers including Columbus, Ohio; Portland, Oregon, (oldest son); Florida (little sister); or Tennessee (near youngest son and favorite place to live!).

I know this isn't about coupons, but life is life, and it all makes the circle in time.

If Buffy does a weekly local posting, I'll post it here for all to enjoy.

Columbus Kroger Not Doing Triple Coupons Right Now

There are some rumblings on the Internet about Kroger offering triple coupons in some parts of the country. I called our local Kroger tonight and (after a long time on hold), I was told "no, we're not doing that right now". If history repeats itself, Kroger may spring a triple coupon event soon, so keep your ears to the ground and eyes on the door.

All I have to say is...if you are shopping at Giant Eagle without coupons- you might as well throw your money right out the door. Even their sale prices SUCK! I only find occasional deals worth making the trip for (like last week's Breyers ice cream for $1!!). Ok, now that I've gotten that off my chest...here are the few things I found for the coming week:

Nov. 5-11th. 1. Fruity Pebbles/Cocoa Pebbles/Alpha Bits- if you buy 3 they are 3 for $4- but you must buy 3 to get the deal. A decent price if you like these varieties, but no coupons to go with em.

2. If you like Land-O-lakes butter $2- $.50/1 (11/1 SS)= $1/each. I've gotten the same butter for free during Meijer sales, but if you like it/need it etc. (also if you purchase $10 in select products with these included- they will give you $2/off next shopping trip coupon).

3. If you like Entenmann's products- they are B1G1 Free, a good deal...no coupons.

4. Poptarts 12 ct. box $2.50- $.55/1 (9/13 RP)= $1.40/box. Not great- not bad.

5. Clorox disinfectant wipes $2.50- $.50/1 (10/4 RP)= $1.50/each. Also, buy 4 of these and get a coupon at checkout for $3 off your next shopping trip. So, basically it would be 4 containers for $3 if you purchase 4 and use 4 coupons. Good deal.

6. Hefty trash bags $3- $.55/1 (8/30 RP)= $1.90/each good deal

7. Glade 4oz candles $2.50/each- $1.50/2 (11/1 SS)= $1.75/each

8. Coffee Mate creamer $1.50- $.50/1 (11/1 RP)= $.50/each

9. Yoplait trix yogurt $2- $.75/2 (10/4 SS)= $1.25/each OR various printables (www.coupons.com or www.bettycrocker.com for $.40/1 to make them $1.20/each.

Very Good Deals at Kroger in Central Ohio This Week

Besides having good deals at Kroger this week, the sales that match my coupons are grocery items that I use all the time. Like Quaker Oatmeal, Laundry Soap, Ricola Cough Drops, Colgate Toothpaste, Pert Shampoo, and more.

Tonight I planned ahead to match coupons with sales and ended up spending $8 and SAVED $68.00. Actually, that's better than usual for me. I'm pleased that I can replenish my Pantry 309 that has been getting pretty low. I can start fulfilling some wish-lists that have been put on hold.

I've been getting free name brand dog food for Sheba at Giant Eagle too. Now I'm just waiting for those Mentos to come on sale for 99 cents at Kroger or Giant Eagle, so I can get them free to pass out to my classmates when we get frustrated and start gnashing our teeth. ha ha

Good Deals and Free Meals This Week

I feel like I've been delinquent here because it's been a week or so since I posted the best deals in town. Besides many hours of clinicals and a heavy school load (just ask my classmates) my furry 'baby', Sheba is very sick and has taken many hours of my time day and night to try and keep her comfortable in her last hours. (Yes, it's really sad at our house, these days.) We lost our other dog, our Golden Retriever in the summer. Both were getting old.

Only if you are a real pet lover, can you imagine me lying on the floor next to Sheba as she moans and groans in pain during the night. Petting her tummy seems to help a little. She used to jump up on the bed when she wanted comfort, but she's too weak and in too much pain for us to get her on the bed now. The vet has given us several meds, but none seem to help even though I've given more than what was prescribed. We haven't had more than a couple hours of sleep at a time at our house in a couple weeks now.

As I've checked the Giant Eagle sales in Columbus this week, here are a couple good deals - and I have extra coupons for most.

Betty Crocker Potatoes are .50 cents a box with coupon.
Honey Nut Cheerios .40 cents a box with .55 cent coupon doubled.
Progresso Soup is free with a couple coupons that I downloaded and printed online.
Chef BAD (can't spell that word) pasta is .60 cents with $1/2 coupon.
Bird's Eye frozen veges are free with .50 cent coupon that is doubled at Giant Eagle.
Heinz Ketsup is .40 with coupon.

No triple coupons going on at this time that I know of.

2. Keep your weekly coupons organized by date- don't bother cutting all coupons out.

3. If you find good coupons for items you use- try to collect at least 5 or 6 so that when it goes on sale and you can get it cheap, you can stock 5-6 of them to get you through until that item has a good deal/coupons again. Yes, this may mean purchasing 5-6 Sunday papers (Or ask me ((Linda)) if I have extra coupons for that product. I often do!!!) But if you get good at it, you'll more than make your $$ back.

4. When going through grocery store, look for coupons hanging on blinkie (dispensers) or on a tear pad. COLLECT THEM IF YOU USE THAT PRODUCT EVEN IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO BUY THAT DAY. You can use these at any store and any day until it expires.

5. Use this site: www.hotcouponworld.com but don't get overwhelmed by the TONS of info on the site. I use the "coupon data base" which you just type in the product name and it will tell you if there are coupons out there for that item and where to find them. For instance, if I want Betty Crocker fruit snacks, type in betty crocker and it will tell you where to find coupons, how much coupon is worth etc. The only other thing I use this site for, is under "resources" you can print Meijer/Target coupons off their site.

6. Meijer will only double 2 of the same coupon per order. BUT, you CAN use a regular coupon WITH a Meijer coupon...so at Meijer if you find an item that you have a newspaper coupon for and there is a Meijer store coupon for that item, you can use 2 coupons on one item- this is how I get lots of free or very cheap stuff at Meijer. (and you can ask them to run a second transaction if you want to get more than 2 of the item with coupons).7. Kroger just started limiting you to using 5 of the same coupon per order.

8. I use www.coupondede.com to order coupons that I want to stock up on. For instance last week at Meijer they had lunchables on sale for $1- I found $1/off coupons on this site, ordered 20 (paid around $.10 per coupon) and got the lunchables for free after the coupons. Coupons take a few days to arrive so I usually try to do the matchups I'm sending below at the beginning of the week so I can order what I need and get them before that week's sale ends.

9. When printing an online coupon- if you hit the back arrow and then refresh after it finishes printing, it will re-print so that you can get 2 coupons per computer. If you have access to more than one computer (say desktop and laptop) you can print off of each for additional coupons that way as well.

10. Coupons come usually in 3 different inserts on Sundays. Smart Source (name at top of coupon packet) is appreviated "SS". Red Plum "RP" and Proctor and Gamble "PG". So if I mark after an item (9/13 RP) that means you can find that coupon in the Sept. 13th RP. This is why you want to organize coupons by date. Then all you have to do is go to that week's folder, find the Red Plum and cut the coupon needed.

11. Other short hand notes: $1/4 means $1 off when you buy 4. $.50/2 means $.50 off when you buy 2.

12. Lots of good coupons can be printed at: www.coupons.com

13. Sometimes you have to sign up at sites to get coupons- I will usually give my real name/address but not my real phone number. I also created a coupon email account that I use to get coupons sent to so it doesn't flood my real account.

14. Watch the cashiers to make sure they scan each of your coupons- they OFTEN make mistakes!

15. Below is the lists I will generally send out to everyone on my coupon list. If you ever want to be removed, just let me know!

1. Saturday ONLY! Betty crocker fruit snacks $.99- $.40/1 coupon from 9/13 SS (or you can print some here: http://print.coupons.com/Couponweb/Offers.aspx?pid=12926&zid=ta33&nid=10) after they double that (only 2 will double per transaction)= $.20/box. EVEN BETTER THOUGH- if you print a Meijer coupon here (http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=cpngenerator_meijer) for $1/2 and use WITH your 2 coupons from 9/13 SS, they would be FREE!! If you want more than 2 boxes, you can still print as many of the coupons from the second link provided to get as many boxes as you'd like for $.50/each which is still a good deal!

2. Chex Mix. $1.19/bag. Coupons at http://www.bettycrocker.com/coupons-promotions/coupons/coupons.aspx?WT.ac=homepage_05-01-2008 for $.50/1 after doubled would be $.19/bag. Don't forget to hit back arrow and refresh and print 2 so you can get 2 bags at this price! There are also other coupons for chex mix $1/2 in the 9/13 SS but that wouldn't be as good of a deal.

3. Betty Crocker supreme brownie mix. $1.79. Coupons at the same link posted above for num. 2 for $.75/2. After doubled that would mean 2 boxes for $1.04/each. Not bad price.

4. Off the bone prepackaged lunch meat. $1.99/each. http://www.johnmorrell.com/BOGOCoupon.aspx to print coupon for B1G1 free to make this a great deal on lunch meat! $1/each. Don't forget to use back arrow and then refresh to print 2!

5. Lady speedstick deodorant $1.99. There are $.75/off coupons from last weeks paper (9/27 SS) to make this $.50 for deodorant.

6. Green Giant Veggies $1/each. There are $.50/1 coupons from the 9/13 SS that would make these FREE veggies!! after that coupon is doubled. The coupon can also be printed here: www.coupons.com remember to back arrow/refresh to print 2. REMINDER- Meijer will only double 2 per order, so if you have 4 coupons and want 4 bags- have them ring them as a separate order!

7. Betty crocker frosting $1.49. Use $.50/1 coupon at www.coupons.com after they double that would be $.50/each but there are also Meijer store coupons at http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=cpngenerator_meijer for $1/2 so if you use the 2 coupons from the first link and 1 coupon from the second, you will get 2 frostings for FREE!

8. Betty crocker warm delights $1.49. Use $.50/1 coupons from www.coupons.com (or sunday paper but can't find the date) to make the $.50 and if you use the Meijer store coupon from http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=cpngenerator_meijer for $1/2 you will get FREE!! So, use your 2 coupons from the first link with one Meijer coupon from the second link and you will get 2 free warm delights.

KROGER:Didn't have many good matchups but don't forget if you order coupons from www.coupondede.com for angel soft toilet paper (use the search box)- (coupon says for 6 count package) for $.50/each...Kroger always has 4pack rolls for $.99 and these coupons work for the 4pack so after Kroger doubles your $.50/off coupon- that is how you get FREE toilet paper! You can only order 10 of these coupons from this site at a time and Kroger will only let you use 5 at each transaction...but its FREE TP! I haven't paid for TP in almost a year from this method!

Kroger also has bread products on sale for $1.--------------------------------------------------------------

I feel a bit like a thief when the cashier looks at her cash register like she accidentally hit the delete button.

Before she rang up my groceries today, the cashier asked if I wanted to use my gas rewards of 7 percent. I smiled and said, "No thank-you" expected my coupons to cover the cost of this trip to the store, but not expecting the look of shock on her face when she realized that I owed her NOTHING.

Okay. I don't usually write about saving 75 percent or 80 percent with coupons. I've discovered people really don't enjoy those stories because they are reminded that it doesn't work that way for them.

This time, I just thought I'd encourage you to think about it, and let me help you get Good Deals and Free Meals by learning how to shop with coupons. Don't give up! Anyone can do it.

Free Birds Eye Frozen Veges at GE

I just love those quick meal veges from Steamfresh, and even more, love getting them for free this week with the coupons I clipped a couple weeks ago from the Sunday inserts.

Giant Eagle has the 12 0z. packages on sale (until Thursday) for $1. The 50 cents coupons are doubled, so how about that?

I believe the slightly seasoned coupons work for the regular veges too. Between the Pets Smart free dog food and free vegetables, we're all eating well this week.

Now It's K-Mart Offering Super Doubles Starting 9-27-09

It looks like I'm about 24-hours late on this one, but the Columbus, OH, K-Mart stores are offering doubles on coupons up to $2. A $2 coupon is worth $2. A $2 coupon (if one exists) is worth $4.

I called, and the lady said you can only use 10 coupons at a time, but it can be used for any item. (Not just certain departments like last time.) I guess this also means that a 50 cent coupons is worth $1 and so on.

I might take a run to the Olentangy store before rush hour as I'm in clinicals tomorrow all day.

My dog will be mad at me. She's lying outside enjoy the cool fall weather. Old Man Winter is just around the corner here in the Midwest!

Watch for falling leaves ~ and falling prices!

Kroger Triple Coupons Now! Sept. 25-27, 2009

That sneaky "hope-the-couponers-don't-find-out" Kroger is quietly running triple coupons again.

Someone sent me an e-mail asking how I know about these things. In this case, I have set up a Google notification that sends me an e-mail anytime the words "kroger triple coupons" is posted anywhere on the web. You can set this up through your Google account to send you notification of any words you want. It sends you a link to the site that used those words. I also have my name, the words 'free groceries', Berrien Springs, and my websites listed. You'd be surprised who is searching for you these days.

So, I just called the Kroger nearest me in Columbus, Ohio, and they confirmed they are running the triple coupon event this weekend. Coupons through 50 cents are tripled. That means a 50 cent coupon is worth $1.50. You can use unlimited coupons (one for each item), and online printed coupons are accepted.

I haven't checked to see what coupons I have to match any sales, but I'm sure there Good Deals and Free Meals in the 'isles' at Kroger right now.

This is how I stock up on grocery items for Pantry 309 and others that I share my goodies with.

By the way, the coupon inserts this Sunday (9/27/09) finally include Irish Spring coupons for my friend, Edith. The Irish Spring coupons are for 50 cents, so that means $1.50 off on Irish Spring soap at Krogers through Sunday!!! Call me quick, Edith.

There's also a coupon for free Friskies Natural Sensations cat treats, but my sister who has three cats including big Ringo whom I'm co-mama of, is getting my extra coupons for that.

There's lots more, but you can check out the coupons in the Sunday paper and hurry to Kroger before midnight on Sunday. Or, send me an e-mail with your requests for extra coupons.

I Have Extra Coupons From Five Inserts 9-13-09

The week that we got five coupon inserts in the Sunday paper (9-13-09), we left on a few days vacation, so I didn't cut out very many coupons. If you still have your inserts and see any coupons that you want, please let me know at my e-mail pantry309@yahoo.com . This week you could have gotten Tuna for $.09 after the coupon doubled, but I think you can get it at that price at Meijer everyday. Problem is you can only check out two at a time there. LOL

The Smart Source insert with the picture of a mouse on it (dated 9-13-09) has several good coupons. (Go figure. You have to deal with that mouse.) Remember, these coupons are good anywhere you have grocery stores. I'm happy to mail them to anyone at no extra cost.

I'm getting back into the groove of things slowly but surely. Tonight I have piles of coupon inserts to get filed away before the next batch arrives in the morning. It's fun stuff, though!

Sunday Paper for 9-13-09 Full of Goodies. Five Coupon Inserts!

I love living near the city, but being able to enjoy a bit of nature outside our door. Today the birds are calling in the trees near my window, and one came close to whisper in my ear that this coming Sunday would be a great newspaper coupon day.

There will be two Smart Source booklets, two Red Plum and one Better At Home. (I don't recall seeing that one before.) She gave me a little peek inside, and I saw more coupons than even a pro like me could imagine. Everything but coupons for Irish Spring for my friend, Edith! (Maybe I didn't look carefully enough, so I'll check again.)

There are coupons for all my favorite things like frozen veges, pet food, shampoos, cleaning supplies, and more!

The USA Weekend that is also included in the Sunday paper has a nice little article on where to get the best up-to-date coupons with good online coupon links to check out.

The USA Weekend article called getting stuff for free "almost an extreme sport". In the SaveSmart story titled "Make the Most of Coupons", it lists several good coupon websites to check out. They are: http://www.wickedcooldeals.com , http://www.moneysavingmom.com , and http://www.neverpayretailagain.net .

Having shared all that, the little birdie flew on to her Tennessee destination where she plans to soak up some last minute summer sun, play in the warm soaking spas, check out some mountain water falls, enjoy a small family reunion, and pick up some fall sunflower seeds to enjoy during the long, cold winter months in central Ohio.

No Coupons in Sunday Paper 9-6-09 but Free Deals Abound!

I hope you didn't already go out and buy the Sunday paper for the coupons. We get the paper delivered very early, so I jumped out of bed by 7:30 a.m. to make sure they didn't stick a surprise in there. Nope, nada. Not a coupon anywhere!

For those who collect and save coupons each week, I'm happy to report that in the Columbus, Ohio, area, there are some good deals around! Last night I made my well-planned trip to Meijer using Meijer coupons combined with manufactures' coupons. I got $54 dollars-worth of groceries for less than $10. That included FREE A-1 that my sister and her husband will be delighted to use as they cook out several times a week. Also, Chinet paper plates and bowls for only $.49. (49-cents!). Also, Miracle Whip Mayo for only $1 when two coupons were stacked. (The Meijer coupon and the manufactures' coupon).

I'm still using certain Ritz crackers' coupons that allow me a FREE box of Wheat Thins AND a free box of Ritz Crackerfuls when I buy one box of Ritz Crackers. Let's see if I can keep this experience simple... I've done this process at both Meijer and Kroger, so it does work. Ritz is on sale for $2.49 a box. Meijer has a Mealbox coupon (Meijer on-line coupons) for $1 off a box of Ritz. So, I get two boxes of Ritz and add two Meijer coupons for $1 off bringing that cost to $3 for two boxes of Ritz. I use my other coupons for the two extra free Wheat Thins and free Crackerfuls. (Six boxes of crackers for $3.)

Before checking out, I've already profiled the cashiers and selected a young man I hope will accept my word if the coupons hang up when he rings them in. He did question if I had purchased the Ritz crackers, and because I had a lot of coupons, I answered, "Yes sir, I did. I'm the coupon princess, so you can be sure I did this right." He didn't question another one.

Meijer starts new sales week today, and I plan to make use of my extra Barilla coupons. Piccolini and Angel Hair pasta (plus all the other types) will only cost about 30-cents a box! I thought last week's Giant Eagle sale of $1 a box was great, but Meijer has it on sale for 89-cents a box this week! Go figure! It usually sells for $1.69 a box at Kroger!

Pantry 309 has been able to offer extra good food last week including Barilla pasta, A-1, cheese, cereal, toilet paper and even some candy bars. Several of my classmates have really appreciated Pantry 309. I like it when they say God will bless me. It shows they are appreciative and that the joy of giving works both ways.

Heads UP - KMart Triple Coupons in Ohio?

I'm head over heals swamped with writing papers for school and studying for term finals, but I've seen a couple places on my regular blogs that K-Mart will be having triple coupon events starting August 30, 2009 in the Columbus, Ohio, area. If you have some coupons and want to check it out, go for it, and good luck.

This is great for getting free or almost free paper items, cleaning supplies. It seems to me that K-Mart doesn't put anything on sale and doesn't have very much on the shelves during triple coupon days. But, last time I did gets lots of free dog food!

Barilla Pasta - Best Deal at Giant Eagle This Week

Sunday's paper (8-23-09) had a coupon in the Smart Source OR Red Plum for $1/2 ($1 off two) boxes of Barilla Piccolini. This week (8/20/89 - 8/26/09) Giant Eagle has all types of Brailla Pasta and Spaghetti on sale 10/$10. (You don't have to get 10 for the $1 each price.)

With the coupon, that's only 50 cents a box. Even though it doesn't list the spaghetti on the coupon, I ran it through tonight and it accepted the coupon for Barilla Piccolini. So, I got a total of six boxes (different kinds) for $3.

For those who don't have coupons, I do have a few extra so if you will email me, I'll send you some coupons. But hurry, this deal ends soon.

Also, if you have dogs and use Purina Chef Michael's dog food, I have a few coupons for $3 off one bag. I saw a sale last week for $3.50 a bag, but haven't found one this week. Even if not on sale, it only costs $1 a bag with the coupon. Sheba just loves it! I got several bags for 50 cents each last week!!!!!!!

Kroger Triples and Tickles!

Yep, tonight I saved $77 and spent $4 at one store. That tickles me pink and makes hubby very happy! He is so proud of my 'second job'. He calls it that because it saves us so much money every week! He says I've become a professional at it, but it's not that much of a mystery or that much trouble once you get into it.

I've had so much fun tonight taking in some great deals at Kroger during the weekend of triple coupons (up to 50 cents). The best deal, of course, was all the absolutely free Pillsbury Grands and related breads. Hubby looked into the refrigerator and commented, "Well, I do like biscuits with my meals." I don't consider Grands true biscuits, but I guess they are. Anyway, I used all my stash of Pillsbury coupons and now have a supply for Pantry 309 too!

Another swell deal at Kroger was Suave shampoo and body wash. Using my 50 cent coupons that tripled to $1.50, I got bottles of shampoo and body wash for about 12 each!

Crest toothpaste is $4/2 at Kroger, but with the 50 cent coupon, the final price was 50 cents. Even though it cost me 50 cents, some of them also included a free 'travel size' tube of toothpaste. I could have bought a lot more because I have a big stash of Crest coupons, but at 50 cents, even that has a limit of spending. Too bad no one is requesting my extra coupons...Too bad they expire August 31.

Mustard would have been free, but I forgot to get it tonight. I still have Sunday, though. So are the Bic pens that I forgot to get.

Reese's candy bars are free along with another free one with a BOGO free coupon that you guys will see in Sunday's Red Plum or Smart Source insert. My husband and big John especially love those. I politely got only 10 of the Reese Dark Chocolate Candy Bars (new), but promised the boys more on another day!

The very BEST deal was at Giant Eagle where I found Chef Michael (spelling) dog food (by Purina) on sale. There's a coupon for $3 off a bag in the Sunday paper (8/23), and it's on sale for 2/$7 making it only 50 cents a bag! Sheba loves it! I got several bags, but not wanting to look greedy in front of all my favorite cashiers, I went back a second time for three more bags.

Another great deal (if you're into it) at Giant Eagle are the Chinet plates and cups. Using coupons I saved for a sale from earlier, I paid only 50 cents for each set of plates and cups. Instead of paper plates, I got the clear plastic called 'crystal' plates and cups. I'm into that even though I'd never pay full price or even half price for them! (Sandy, let me know if you use these.)

For Edge shaving cream, I have to drive to another Giant Eagle but with the coupons, it's free too. We don't need so much, but hubby says if it's free, he will find a good hiding spot for it.

At both stores, the cashiers commented on what good deals I got. (Sometimes they sneer and make snide comments, ((mostly at other stores)), so a nice, positive comment is very much appreciated.) One cashier at Giant Eagle said, "I want my wife to talk to you about how to use coupons!" Another cashier was shocked, but excited with me when I saved $77 and spent only $4. (I gave her some dog food coupons too. She has several big dogs.)

One thing I've noticed is that the grocery stores never check for expiration dates. At least not the two main ones that I go to. While I'm always very careful about using coupons that are not expired, I decided to try some paper towel coupons that expired this week because the paper towels are free with those coupons. So far, it's worked with five rolls. I have 12 more to go. Wonder if I'll get them all?

My wish is that more of my friends and family would learn this art of saving money on all of your favorite grocery and personal items. It really does not take that much time once you get yourself organized - especially if you only buy what you and your family use. Once you get a little stockpile of the specific items you use, then catch these items on sale and pick up two or three extra, that all it takes!

At the end of each month, I toss out a big grocery bag of expired coupons, and that doesn't count the hundreds that I don't cut out. I'm learning to cut only the basic things I like. I file the inserts in a big manila envelope by name and date and use the coupon blogs to discover other specials that I need additional coupons for. Most 'couponers' have their own special way of cutting and organizing coupons. Whatever works for you.

Of course as hubby says, if everybody used coupons, the shelves would be empty!
It has to be something YOU want to do. I'm sure it's not for everyone, and that okay too.

Good Deals This Weekend at Kroger With Triple Coupons

Starting Friday, August 21, 2009, Kroger stores in Columbus, Ohio, will triple your coupons. For instance, a .35 cent coupon will be worth $1.05. Pillsbury Grands (and other types) are on sale through Sunday for .99 cents each, so you will get .05 cents credit for each one you buy.

I'm sure there are other good deals to be made too. I'm sad that I must spend the first 14 hours of my day working clinicals at Doctors Hospital on Friday. Bummer!

Anyway, Pantry 309 should have a few nice items available on Monday for those who don't have coupons.

Pantry 309 Offering More - and Could Offer More If...

Free baby food BEECH-NUT Coupons in Smart Source 8-2-09

Correction, there were four coupon inserts in today's paper (not five as originally posted), but the coupon savings total almost $400!

There are three coupons in the Smart Source insert (8-2-09) for BEECH-NUT baby food. (At least in the Columbus, Ohio, paper.) You can get a free jar of Beech-Nut Stage 3 Homestyle Fruit and/or use a coupon for a B1G1 (buy one, get one free) of a Lets Grow product. And, there is a $2.00 coupon off any 16 BEECH-NUT Stage 2 jars. These expire 12.31.09.

For those who get the Sunday paper (anywhere in the USA), if you haven't saved a good link showing the current store sales for this week's coupons, you can go HERE and select the grocery store in your area.

Five Coupon Inserts in Sunday Paper 8-2-09

I believe the title says it all, but heads up for extra coupons this Sunday. The last few weeks, there have only been two inserts! If you want to purchase extra papers (or your first one), at last check the Sunday paper was only 99 cents at the Drug Mart on Hamilton Road.

I'm going to have a difficult time sleeping Saturday night anticipating all those coupons!

Coffee Mate, Notepads, and Crest Toothpaste

A couple more items were added to Pantry 309 after a quick run with coupons today. We have two bottles of Coffee Mate (French Vanilla) in the free pantry. (I don't use it.) Plus a few more items.

Also added are several 1-subject notebooks (70-page) that are on sale at Meijer (at least today) for 5-cents each! There a limit of 30, so you know it's a good deal!

I picked up a few extra notepads as I sure do use them a lot, but then I take copious notes in each class. If you are seriously interested, hop over to Meijer on Hamilton Road/Morse Road and grab a few - or more! Or, you may request one or two through your wishlist at pantry309@yahoo.com

This time I think it's true that Crest toothpaste will be free with coupons this Sunday's P&G insert. Crest should be on sale at Giant Eagle to use with the coupons. You might check to see if Kroger will carry over their 10/$10 Crest toothpaste to match the (doubled) coupons too - making it free, of course.

I was delighted to discover that I did indeed have a few Crest toothpaste coupons that expire today, but still matched the Kroger sale, so I was able to pick up three tubes of regular Crest Toothpaste for the Pantry.

Oh yes, we have some fresh (all meat Bologna and Oscar Meyer (all meat) hot dogs added today too. Please let me know if you use this for lunches, etc.

There's still small boxes Lipton tea in the Pantry too.

Free Land-O-Lakes Butter and Some Cheerios

At Meijer's it's on sale for $1, and you could get two at a time for the .55 double coupon, making it free. I have about six extras if anyone would like to put it on their wishlist. Please send your request to my email at pantry309@yahoo.com. It's first-come, first-served based on the date and time of the e-mail. I may pick up a couple more tomorrow, but I gave several of my extra coupons to an older man who was shopping with coupons and didn't have any of these.

Warm Delights were free too, but they go quickly at our home. (You have to like hot fudge and chocolate brownies to love these.)

I thought that toothpaste would be free at Giant Eagle this week, but the Colgate coupon and specific flavor don't match. I'll keep looking because I have a lot of coupons for toothpaste, and no toothpaste left in the Pantry!

Oh yes, I was able to pick up a few extra boxes of Cheerios for the Pantry. You can add that to the short list this week. I really ran the Pantry down in the last few days, but am excited about the new coupons and sales I see coming up soon!

I'm switching my coupons to a notebook instead of three coupon containers I've been lugging around with me. I'm organizing my coupons into baseball card pages for the coupon slots, and it's coming along really good. I hope to finish that tomorrow. It will help me keep up with coupons that are expiring and make sure I don't miss coupons that get stuck behind something else.

My sitemeter continues to indicate that few are actually coming to the site, but the message must be getting out because we made several people very happy this week with some extra good deals and free meals, and I received some really special thank-you's in return.

Coupon Dad Website, Plus I Have Free Country Crock

I'm a bit behind today due to travel to Akron for clinicals this weekend. But, here's a link I'd encourage each of you to save to your favorites. (Or, it's an easy one to remember!). It's coupondad.net or HERE.

I already printed out several really good coupons from www.coupondad.net that I haven't found other places like, Morning Star Farms, $1 off one box of Cheerios (good Giant Eagle sale this week, I think), and .60 off Jell-O-Gelatin or Pudding Snack.

It looks like my sister's favorite Land-O-Lakes Butter may be free or almost so at Meijer's this week with this week's .55 coupon in the Sunday paper. I Have Extra Coupons...

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. $1.25 off any one (any size). Sales make this free too. Expires Sept. 20, 2009.

I have coupons for FREE Ideal 50ct packet of Ideal Sweetener. (Several coupons) Expires 11-08-09.

Pert Plus for Men. Save $1.50 on any one size (even trial sizes if the store isn't grumpy about it). Sometimes Walgreens or CVS has them on sale. Expires 8-3-09

Also, any Pert Plus $1.00 coupon.

I might have coupons for $1.00 off ONE package of Quaker granola bars. They are usually for TWO packages. If I don't use them, I'll have extra. Must use with good sales for best deal. Several expiration dates.

I have more, but it's very late and I'm very, very tired. Hopefully these will help someone. Even better if it's someone I really, really, like. LOL (Just kidding. I love you all!)

Walgreens Is Having BIG School Supply Sale

My husband says he doesn't need any more pens, markers, or pencils! This posting is especially for my classmates at Bohecker College. By the time we're back in class, this sale will be over.

Through Saturday, July 18, 2009, all Walgreens' stores in the Columbus area have pens, paper, notepads, pencils, mechanical pencils, and more for 9 cents to 19 cents to 49 cents. I found it difficult to find the specific items listed on the front of the Walgreens flier tonight, but when I did find the sale items, they had full shelves, so they must be restocking nightly. If you can't find the sale items, (I think they hide them), please ask. I've found the employees in the New Albany Walgreens to always be very helpful.

I may stock up on some of the best deals and bring them to school on Monday. I'll ask for whatever it ends up costing me which won't be more than 10-cents to 25-cents each. If no one wants anything, I'm sure I'll use it eventually.

CVS has good deals too, but you have to accept store credit and re-spend your money. Too much bother for me.

Okay, hope you can get out and about to check the great deals at Walgreens before Sunday. (They didn't pay me to say that.)

Coupon for Free Organic Santa Cruz juice

Click the link, and for this one, you can print as many coupons as you like. (For some reason I got a second blank page that used up my ink, so check with one or two at first.)

Kroger sells this organic juice in the organic department, not with the regular juice. Kroger has it on sale this week 4/$5 (1.24 each) and with the 75 cent coupon doubling as Kroger always does, this is free. I got three bottles last night and hope to get a couple more on Thursday. Because this sale and coupons have been going all week, you might find the shelf empty. Don't blame me, I only got three so far. ha ha

This sale will end on Sunday, July 26, 2009.

I passed out my new Pantry 309 brochures, business cards and some FREE Mentos at school today, so hope to welcome several classmates to our online hotbed of free food and coupon information. For those who are new, (especially friends from school), this will help describe how you can order a 'wish-list' of online groceries, shop with coupons, or donate coupons to Pantry 309.

What is Pantry 309? As you've already noticed, Pantry 309 is my way of giving back from all the good deals obtained by shopping with coupons in the Columbus, Ohio, area. There are no strings attached. I simply want to help others who have the same needs I do! My friend, Buffy, who is also a great couponer and who got me started, has been supportive and very helpful. But, I have no more money than the next student who can't work while going to school, so I may need to price my items at least what I've paid after coupons. As the online orders pick up, I'll do more specific shopping to meet the needs of those who make specific requests at the e-mail address.

This is new to me too, so bear with me as I learn what works and what doesn't.

How to order? Something new I added last night was a LINK to the website where I've posted my list of what's available at the FREE online store right now, instead of the list taking up space on the page. You'll see the link in the upper left-hand corner of this post. Soon, I'll add pictures and add even more items on the linked page.

Go to that page and pick out the items you think you could use. Or, food items you'd like me to watch for. E-mail that list to me at pantry309@yahoo.com with your phone number. I will always reply, and I'll put together whatever is available. I'll also keep a running list of things you like me to watch for if you provide me with that information.

How much does it cost? I've already explained that, for now, everything is FREE, but soon I may need to charge whatever it cost me. Many items are free, but usually there's a 50-cent to $1.00 cost that I should pass on to you. I can certainly offer more items at a ridiculously lower cost than you would pay at Kroger. For instance, later this week I hope to have Cheerios for 88 cents a box!

How to shop with coupons? First of all, congratulations on joining the swell of shoppers who save 75-100% by shopping with coupons. If you have one coupon and would like more coupons, so you can pick up several of the same item, please e-mail and ask me if I have the coupon(s). I get about 15 coupon booklets each week, and often discard dozens of expired coupons that I couldn't or didn't use use. Sometimes you get the coupons of items you like, and wait for the sale!!! Coupons like Pampers, I have but don't use.

To quickly find out what coupons match the current week's sales, please go to the link I have on the left hand side of this page and find your favorite store on the list. There are hundreds of blogs that post that information, but I've selected one for this site. Here's the LINK for that blog called becentsable.net.

Update on Free Food Pantry 309, New Albany, Ohio

Things aren't moving very fast with Pantry 309. I only had three or four visitors to the blog today, and it didn't look like anyone stayed very long. That doesn't mean I'm going to give up!

Buffy called and said she is excited about the project and will help in several ways including adding her own stash of weekly good deals she gets by shopping with coupons. Others have expressed support, appreciation for the effort, and interest in helping.

I have ordered some brochures explaining the program and how to get involved that we can pass out to others. I could use some help getting the garage ready, but the next two weekends I'm out of town for student clinicals at Akron. (July 18 and July 25) Maybe by then Big John (our son) will get over to help with that.

While talking to a couple people at school about my idea, I realized that I need to clarify a couple things to make it more clear what I have in mind. The words "Pantry" might imply that we're giving away cans of beef soup and dry crackers.

Not!!!!!

We're talking about good tasting, good quality, 'comfort food' as I like to call it, AND tons of personal items you use everyday. While you can pick up cans of pinto beans, corn and peas if you want to, what we're stocking at Pantry 309 are quality foods such as; Kellogg's and General Mills breakfast cereals, Quacker Oat granola bars, Lays potato chips, Keeblers and Nabisco cookies, Kraft cheese, Pillsbury dinner rolls, Oscar Mayer and Hillshire meats, Angel Soft or Scotts tissue paper, Kraft mayo and salad dressing, quality frozen veges, Mars candy bars, Scott paper towels, Hefty trash bags, Ziploc sandwich bags, Knorr pasta dishes, tuna fish (cans and package), Lipton tea, bags of sugar, Colgate toothpaste, Land-O-Lakes butter, V-8, Juicy Juice fruit drinks, Welch juice, Dawn dish soap, Cascade and Finish dishwasher soap, Ritz crackers, Dole fruit, Jell-O puddings and snacks, and much, much more!

Sometimes we get milk, orange juice, and other perishable items that need to be used right away. Oh yes, there's Purina dog and cat food, shampoo, laundry detergents, fabric softners, toothbrushes, wipes, cleaning supplies, paper products and more personal items than I want to post on a public forum.

Two things are bound to happen.

1) I'll get no takers, and I'll quit picking up more grocery items than we personally use in our home. ( I already tried that, but us couponers know doing passing by free food at the grocery store is almost impossible to do when the it's is practically FREE with combined sales and coupons. Huh Buffy?)

2) I'll find families in the local area to donate this to on a regular basis and keep shopping for all the good deals and sharing weekly.

3) I want this to be geared to those we know in our circle of work, church, school, or neighbors.

I fully expect the skies to open with a wonderful response to my desire to help, and others will join in the effort to bring smiles and good food to those we love close to home.

I just need to be patient - something I'm not good at when I have an plan. lol

Right now the Pantry is not very full, but we do have most everything I listed in small amounts. Just know that it won't take long to build it up when the idea takes off.

Another link for freee food and free stuff. Help Needed

First, I want to thank those who have offered support and encouragement for Pantry 309!!! All your comments and e-mail mean more to me than you know.

Hubby and I are working on upgrading this website so people can click and click their grocery requests to me, and others have offered to help me improve the web page in other areas too.

Hubby suggests that a lot of people who need grocery items are not computer literate, so we're thinking of ways to reach those folks. If you know of someone who would appreciate some extra of the things I have listed on the left-hand side of this page (more coming!), please let me know by e-mail. Pantry 309 is for anyone including YOU.

BTW, I've had no mail at the Pantry 309 address: pantry309@yahoo.com Feel free to send me a note there. I can check that e-mail with my new i-Phone, and I do that quite often.

We're also mulling the idea to offer a copy of my book, Dusty Angels and Old Diaries, to anyone who makes a contribution to the Pantry 309 effort. (If you already have my book, maybe you'd like to pass it on.) You can contribute more food, ideas, computer technology, shelving, or your coupons you don't use.

Another helping idea is to buy the Sunday paper and donate the Smart Source, Red Plum, P&G, and any other Sunday coupons that come with the paper to Pantry 309. This can be done from anyplace in the USA. Most inserts are pretty much alike. Mail contributions can be sent to Linda Meikle, PO 309, New Albany, OH 43054. (Hubby says he can't think of any reason not to list the PO address on the blog.)

Different Direction for This Blog - Pantry 309

I have a dream! And, I had a dream last night - that reinforces a direction I want to try with my coupon shopping. I'm calling it Pantry 309. I'll explain why further on.

Every once in a while my friend, Buffy, and I take a few minutes from our terribly busy schedule to meet for breakfast. We never have enough time to even remember all the things we want to talk about over her egg and toast and my cheese omelet, but one thing we agree on is that we wish we could come up with some way to help more people with all the good deals we get using coupons as our shopping guide.

Many people tell me they wish they had more time to "do couponing" but they don't know where to get the coupons or how to use them in the most efficient way. They are envious of all the good deals and free things we get, but don't know how to get it for themselves!

Yesterday, another classmate said she wished she had time to shop with coupons, but with four kids, working, and going to school, she just doesn't have time to figure it out and keep up with it. Her sigh was so deep, I can still hear it in my mind.

Right now, I've been blessed with an unexpected but magical source for extra coupons. I believe this happened because my goal in using coupons was/is to help others. The offer of free coupons has not gone very far. I'm sure it's because you have to understand the intimate details of coupon shopping for it to be successful. That's not for everyone.

My close family members know that rarely do I have a dream that makes me feel good. My dreams are usually about some horrible calamity that leaves me screaming in my sleep or jumping out of bed with a powerful feeling of fear chasing me! So, when I have a good dream, my mind wants to put it to use immediately!

Last night, I was in a familiar place back in Michigan. It was a place where I thought everyone (parents and children) were sleeping quietly, but when I looked closer, they were sick from hunger and slowing starving to death. Rather than the dream becoming frightening, I felt a strong direction to use my couponing to make a difference, and I was warmed by all the good feelings that come with doing good deeds. I woke up and looked at the clock. It was 3:09 a.m. I'll explain how 309 came up later today when I was putting plans into place to start my new direction.

Okay, this is my 'dream-plan'. I need some contributions from others (YOU), and I have something to offer in return.

I'd really like to develop something called, Pantry 309 where I actually create a store and post a list of items in my pantry to share freely to anyone on a weekly or even daily basis.

Anyone who becomes a member of Pantry 309 can 'order' from my FREE store anytime by sending me an email. I can deliver the items or work out a schedule for pick up. Of course, this will have to be limited to the Columbus, Ohio, area right now.

A one-time nominal $5 membership is to weed out those who would take advantage. I'm not expecting to make money. (Sorry, not that kind of person. Never have been.) But I need to protect myself in this day and age. Others might want to make a donation, but this is absolutely optional.

I know some of you reading this page who really don't need free food, but you know someone who does! I also personally know some of you who could use many of the items I often get for free or almost nothing. The circle could grow by you becoming a member and picking up free things from my pantry for someone else, or by you ordering free food for yourself, and by you telling others about my store (and blog).

As I already said, I'm thinking of something like a nominal $5 one-time membership free (with some identification included), but also accepting donations so I can add even more items to my store if anyone wants to contribute rather than take.

With that in mind, I went out and rented a PO box today. (I didn't discuss this with hubby yet, but he always supports my dreams.) I'm not sure exactly how we will use this PO box, but it seemed like something one should have for a venture like this.

Guess what? I asked if PO box number 55 was available but the gentleman said he was sorry, the computer picked out the number from available boxes. Ahhhh, you guessed it. The computer-generated number was box number 309.

Currently, we have a garage for my Pantry 309, but eventually before winter we will need some place heated. This is where I'll be asking for a contribution. I'm sure I will not have to pay rent, but have absolutely no idea where that place will come from. Just a room to hold shelves and a refrigerator that I can have access to. The universe says that one good deed should follow another, so I'm confident that some good soul will get this request and respond in kind.

Right now, we need a good refrigerator/freezer for the garage. I'm sure someone has one they would like to donate to this good cause - or knows someone they can lean on for me. I'm always finding great deals on milk, juice, butter, rolls, cheese, and even meat! Sometimes more!

I'll still keep posting good deals and links here for those who use coupons like I do now, but will also purchase extra grocery and drug-store items with my coupons to place in Pantry 309 when I get this rolling - especially if I start getting requests for food!
